Historical notes

An Umbro Greco

The Grechetto vine variety has very ancient origins probably connected with the Ancient Greece as well as all those vines that contain the name "Greco" in the root of the denomination. Like all the Greco, freed from many similarities but also characterized by differences that make them unique, even the Grechetto has undergone, especially between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, profound ampelographic studies and, subsequently with technological development, to genetic analysis. The result of these studies was the definition of a set of elements that make the Grechetto different from all the others with evident unique genetic and ampelographic characteristics. The Grechetto is therefore an autochthonous vine variety typical of Umbria and central Italy, in areas such as Lazio, Tuscany and marginally Marche. In fact, it is the native Umbrian white wine "par excellence" cultivated, with various peculiarities, throughout the region.

Native stories

Improvised omelette

You come home late, very tired, after a stressful day. You want to stay at home and relax maybe in front of a good movie. On TV you find out that they are about to give an old film from the Bond saga, which you know well, but that is exactly what you need for your relaxation. Unfortunately, the fridge is empty, offering only eggs, zucchini, onions, spinach, a robiola, a crescenza and good oil bread. A moment of hesitation and, discarded the purchase via the web of some heavy Milanese junk food, you organize a fantastic local omelette with herbs that match your cheeses. But what to drink? Your wine cellar does not betray you and offers you a very suitable Umbrian Grechetto of Martani Hills: a perfect match! Vintage James Bond, improvised and tasteful Omelette with magnificent cheeses and a perfect Grechetto help you find strength and good mood.
